How to Decorate a Patriotic Tree

Decorating trees in your home is not just limited to Christmas! Here at The Wreath Shop, we keep our trees up year round so we can decorate for every season and holiday! In fact, we just finished decorating our white tree in sparkly red, white, and blue for Patriotic Season! What is "Patriotic Season?", you ask? Well, we are coming up on Memorial Day, followed by 4th of July, followed by Labor Day. Decorating a patriotic tree for these holidays is an excellent way to show your love and appreciation for your country.

To decorate a patriotic tree you'll typically want a patriotic red, white, and blue color scheme, and you'll want to gather patriotic decor such as flags, patriotic signs, ribbons, and other red, white, and blue ornaments. We especially love to use patriotic sprays. They are a must for your tree topper! You can also pull out your Christmas ornaments and sprays that are in these colors and make use of them!

We started with a mix of patriotic firecracker sprays and glitter star sprays, mixed with a few glittery red sprays leftover from Christmas for our tree topper.

Then we gathered two 2.5" wired ribbons - one double sided patriotic ribbon with blue and white stars on one side and red and white stripes on the other, and the other ribbon is a metallic red dupioni ribbon, and ran them down the length of the tree, tucking them up into the branches periodically.

Next we moved onto the decor. Start with your larger decor items like signs. We added a large glittered patriotic foam popsicle that brings a whimsical touch to our tree. Then we add two large glittered patriotic foam firecrackers on either side, staggering them. You always want to stagger items throughout your tree that are the same shape, size, color, etc. Then we staggered some USA signs, patriotic popsicle signs, and an assortment of red, white, and blue flocked stars and sequin stars throughout the tree. We pulled out some old Christmas ball ornaments we had in red and blue, and add them to our tree, and filled in spots with patriotic rocket sprays, patriotic glitter ball sprays, and red glitter pine Christmas sprays. Finally, we finished off our tree with some bows made with more of our red, white and blue patriotic ribbons, and we have a beautiful finished patriotic tree that brings a festive patriotic atmosphere to our lobby, and you can do the same in your home!
