Market Time: Showrooms Showing Off?

Posted by

There’s nothing like a little shopping therapy to soothe a girl’s soul. After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it’s nice to get away from the shop/office for awhile and do some serious window shopping, and I mean serious!

For those of you who are not familiar with Market, this is where retailers go to find all the great wares to carry in their stores. Buildings filled with hundreds of showrooms, vendors luring you into their own space with food, drinks, and goodies, hoping to hook you with their own line of goods. Markets are only held in a few select cities across the country, and only occur a couple of times each year, and we are lucky to be so close to one of them!

I have to admit, yes, it is fun, but it is also very stressful! We are trying to get all of our orders in for an entire season, 6-8 months ahead of time, making decisions on what and what not to carry, how much of each item we’ll need, forecasting what will be hot and what not so much, 8 months from now. So, just as Christmas ends, we prepare our orders for the next Fall/Christmas season. And just as the spring season ends, again we go to Market and place our orders for the following spring. And don’t forget the toll it takes on your feet! Leaving the parking garage the first day, I snicker at the first-timers picking their way through the dirt parking lots a mile away in their high heels and feel for how miserable they will be by the end of the day.  Then there's the opposite end of the spectrum, the women in full out gym clothes and tennis shoes, with hair pulled back in a ponytail. They are serious! Personally, I always opt for something in between; something I would wear for a long day of shopping at the mall. My wine break in the middle of the afternoon is always something to look forward to, kicking my feet up on some snazzy patio furniture on display as I reboot. And this goes on for a good 3 or 4 ays for me, probably about the same for others, although Market runs for a full week.

But down to the nitty gritty. Here are just a few of the goodies we found at Dallas Market this year:

New ribbons that are available now! Navy faux burlap with large stars that will be perfect for patriotic accents, and faux burlap in all colors with giant dots.

As for next Fall/Winter, so many new Wreath Enhancers!! These are just a few we fell in love with! (Some may be available as early as June, bunnies and cupids available in December.) Not pictured are Santas, Elves, Bunnies, Witches, Jester legs, and more!

MESH

New Fall/Christmas striped poly jute burlap mesh is on the top left of this wreath. The bottom mesh is a new ombre style pattern, pictured on the roll on the top right.

Candy Cane striped deco-snowball mesh, and Checkered Mesh, also made from a new, thicker poly-burlap type material.

And finally, tons and tons and tons and tons and tons…of Signs and Décor pieces! Way too many to post here!

You’ll have to keep up with us at thewreathshop.com to see what all comes in later this year!
